About Jason
I am a performing artist in dance and theatre, a creator of performance, a teacher of performance techniques and awareness, a concerned citizen, a scholar, and a body-worker. I have a background of performing in dance and theatre works in San Francisco, Denver, Boulder, Chicago, New York City, and England; working in the non-profit sector for ten years; and completing graduate education in the humanities and the arts. I hold a Masters in Mythological Studies with Emphasis in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute and a Masters of Fine Arts in Theatre: Contemporary Performance from Naropa University. I continue to practice mindfulness approaches and cultivate depth psychological insights by attending workshops, seminars, and reading past and present practitioners.
My body based educations include the physical techniques of modern dance and ballet with insights from Feldenkrais; yoga practices including Ashtanga, Iyengar, and other forms; Body-Mind Centering®; and massage. For two years at Naropa University, I trained in Body-Mind Centering®, Experiential Anatomy, and Developmental Technique, as well as Roy Hart Voice technique; I incorporate voice and sound work into the deepening of Body Awareness. I continue to cultivate these approaches to Body Awareness by attending workshops and other training sessions. My approach to Body Awareness is informed by a creative synthesis of all these physical and mindfulness practices to craft a unique experience for each individual or group.
